Winter 2021

Well, winter is here again. Have you inspected your furnace or boiler? It is important to keep them running efficiently. You don’t want them breaking down during a cold spell.

First of all, clean or replace your filters. If you have baseboard heat, clean the fins of dust, hair, and debris. Even if you have space heaters, blow or vaccuum the insides as best you can. Cleanliness leads to better efficiency.

If you have any kind of gas furnace or boiler I highly recommend you keep a spare ignitor or thermocouple. And when you use the spare immediately order another to replace it. When you need a replacement you need it NOW before your home of office gets too cold. Not only is it uncomfortable it can contribute to health problems when condensation forms on the pipes and walls and that can lead to mold. If it gets too cold pipes can break. If you’re leaving town for a while in the winter leave the heat on the lowest setting instead of turning it off. I used to get my replacement parts from This is not meant to be an advertisement and there are others but I just like them.  If you need a maintenance manual for your heating system I have a lot of them right here: Heating Service Manuals. Stay healthy and warm this winter.

I haven’t mentioned it before but when I was doing appliance repair, before I retired, I used to get my parts from This is not meant to be an advertisement and there are others but I just like them.  If you need a maintenance manual for your heating system I have a lot of them right here: Heating Service Manuals

Winter is on the way.

Winter 2016 is on the way!  Make sure your heating devices are up to snuff and won’t break down when you need them.  Clean them out.  If you use electric baseboard heat, make sure all the fins are clean.  If stuff is caught between the fins it cuts down on the airflow between the fins and causes the room to heat up more slowly even if the heat is up.  That will increase energy consumption which will raise your energy bill and contribute to climate change.

Furnaces should be cleaned and if you have a gas furnace or boiler make sure you have a spare ignitor that you can easily replace if your old one goes out.   If you’re not sure how to do it you can probably find a service manual on this site that will help you.  It could save you a lot of money over a service call.  Stay warm this winter and think twice about getting a flu shot.  Last time I got one I got the flu 3 times that season.  Never again for me.  Have a good winter.

More Winter Preparation

More Winter Preparation

It’s time for more winter preparation. Up here in the Northern Hemisphere it is getting cooler and cooler. Winter will be here in a matter of months. It is important to have your heating system checked and ready to go. You don’t want your heat to go out on you when its cold. Here in Wisconsin it gets down to minus 30, and that’s cold. If you have electric baseboard, the first time you turn it on in the season it will probably smell like burning hair and smoke. That’s because electric baseboard gets so hot it can burn hair and dust particles that are trapped inside the fence. It’s pretty much self cleaning that way. But hydronic systems are not that hot. They don’t burn the hair and dust, so that hair and dust can cause the air to not flow smoothly between the fins. Air flowing between the fins is how the air heats up and then that’s how the room heats up.

It is very important to keep your baseboard radiator is clean. It will help the efficiency and lower your heating bills.  Just vacuuming them out will help but it is not enough. It is better to have both compressed air and a vacuum cleaner to clean the fins of a hydronic baseboard heater. Do whatever it takes to clean those fins, folks!

It is also very important to make sure you have a spare ignitor for your boiler or furnace, if your boiler or furnace is gas. Speaking of gas, if you use propane, make sure your propane tank is full. And check it once in awhile during the winter to make sure you know where the level is. It’s just not fun to run out of propane when it’s cold outside.  And if you use heating oil, make sure you don’t run out.

It is good to have a service manual always close to your heating unit, if that unit is a boiler or furnace. A great list of them can be found here Heating Service Manuals.  The most important thing that will go out, the most often, is the igniter. Some people change ignitor is at the beginning of every season. That is a good idea but I don’t know if it is necessary. I do know that making sure your filters are clean is necessary. So make sure you have clean filters at the beginning of the season and check them at least once a month to make sure they are still clean. Dirty filter is move less air through the heater and into the room. This causes the heater to work more to heat up the room to the temperature that you want.

It might also be time to replace your furnace or boiler. I highly recommend getting a high efficiency furnace or boiler, because, although they are more expensive to buy, they are less expensive to use and have a less carbon footprint. That’s more and more important. Going solar is good also if you have lots of Sun. Anything to reduce global warming is good. Good for your world and your children and your environment and your own life. Go green wherever possible!

Preparing for cold weather

Preparing for cold weather.

In the Northern Hemisphere cool and cold weather is approaching. You have to make sure that whatever heater you have is going to be working when you need it. You don’t want to wait until later when you first need it and you find that it’s not working properly.

If you have a furnace or other heater that blows warm air into your living space one thing that you should do is check your filter.  If your filter is dirty, either blow it off with a compressor or the blower part of a vacuum cleaner, or replace it.  If it’s very dirty replace it.  That will extend the life of your furnace or other heater by not making it work harder than it has to to get air through a dirty filter. Make sure the cleaned or new filter is pointed in the right direction when you install or reinstall it.

If you have a baseboard heating system make sure that it is clean between the fins. This is especially needed if you have an electric baseboard system. If the fins are dirty then less air moves between them. This makes it take more energy to heat a room. So take some time and clean off your baseboard heaters. This is very important.  I use a compressor to blow the dust and hair and cobwebs out of the fins and a vacuum cleaner to catch them.  I have the compressor on the top and the vacuum cleaner on the bottom.  It takes some time but you will be surprised how much gets cleaned out.

If you have a gas boiler or furnace, it is a good idea to always have a spare igniter. They can go out anytime and if it goes out in the dead of winter, you might be screwed. Sometimes they are hard to find. And if your gas heater goes out at an inconvenient time, like a holiday or a Sunday, you might have no choice but to hire a professional who might have one in stock and that would cost a ton of money. Igniters are easy to replace, and if you have a spare one and a maintenance manual, you can save a lot of money by replacing it yourself. Just follow all the directions and make sure the igniter is air tight when you are done. You don’t want gas to be leaking through the ignitor hole.  As soon as you use your spare, get another so you always have one ready.

Front loading and top loading washing machines.

Front loading and top loading washing machines.

In this blog post I am going to talk about the difference between front loading and top loading washing machines. I always prefer to use a front loading washer because they seem to clean better and they use much less water. They might use a little more electricity because they generally agitate for a longer.

As far as the controls go for a washing machine, you can get analog controls which have a knob and a lot of friction and complications on the inside, or you can use electronic controls which have a small computer on the inside. Electronic controls are generally more expensive to maintain. Analog controls are cheaper but still not that cheap. Both are pretty easy to replace. It would be very expensive for a professional maintenance guy to come in and do the job for you when, if you had the parts available. You could do it yourself. You can also have your significant other do it for you if you would rather watch TV.

My webmaster showed me how to put in new blog post and all the stuff that goes with it. If you’ve never done something like this you wouldn’t believe the amount of work that is the back ground.

I spent a lot of money on my smartphone. And sometimes I think it is going to drive me crazy. It is very slow for one thing and when I’m doing voice to text it all of a sudden decides to reprint everything I’ve already said and then I have to delete it again. It’s an annoyance. Its an Android. Maybe I should have got an iPhone but I didn’t want to get tied into Apple.

By the way windows 10 is spyware unless you install it the slow way where it ask you a bunch of questions about what you want or not. If you install it automatically it has the capacity to record everything you do and everything you say and everything that’s being said in the room around you, and then sending it all to Microsoft to do as big brother wants.

That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

Keeping my faithful webmaster happy

Keeping My Faithful Webmaster Happy

I took a day off from writing blog posts. Just one day, that’s all. And what do you think happens? My webmaster got all over my case and said I had to write blogs write blogs write blogs forever until he can see them actually coming out of my ears. Well here is one for you.

This is a blog about a special website. This website has everything you ever wanted, as long as everything you ever wanted are repair manuals for home appliances. So if that’s all you ever wanted you should be happy to visit this site. Personally I always wanted something different then repair manuals, but when I needed them and I could find them I was pretty satisfied. The problem is they are sometimes very hard to find. So if you found what you want here on this site, why look any farther? You will probably find it but it could take a long time. I remember the hours and hours I spent looking for repair manuals. I couldn’t charge for the time I was looking for manuals. That wouldn’t have been cool, I don’t think. Which meant I never made as much doing a job as I would have if I had the manual with me the whole time. So take note, this site has thousands of manuals and there’s a good chance it has what you want and it would be a waste of time to find it here and then look for it somewhere else, maybe thinking you might save some money.

I promised my webmaster I would write this blog just so he could show me how to enter it. He told me he has a bunch of work to do because he is so good. But he keeps a special eye on me to make sure I keep posting blogs. I don’t know if he reads them anymore. I think he got fed up a long time ago and just tells me to write and he doesn’t read. I could just enter a page from the phone book and he probably wouldn’t notice. Maybe I will to see if my theory comes true.

Washing Machine Service Manuals

Washing Machine  Manuals

I was just starting my blog post about washing machines when the results of the survey came in. It seems like there are no readers who voted one way or the other. That’s just what I thought would happen. So I guess I can just make up my own mind about whether I have to submit to the demands of my webmaster or live my life free. I’ll flip a coin and see. Ok head I submit to my webmaster and tails I declare my freedom. Okay that’s it boobs. Two out of three, okay? Ok, two out of three. Oops! 3 out of 5, that ought to do it. Ok, 3 out of 5. Yikes! Huh, so much for the survey. There are no witnesses anyway.Washing Machine Service Manuals

And speaking of washing machines, has one ever broken down for you before it drained out all the water, and you were left with all of your clothes in a pool of water and how were you going to ring it out? Was your load of laundry full of heavy jeans? Those are hard to ring out. And what if there was no utility tub close by to throw your soaking wet dripping clothes into? Well I bet you didn’t like that! Did you call a repairman? Did he come out and look at it and said that’s going to cost you more than the machine is worth? Did you have to pay him even though he didn’t fix it? Or did you just sit down in front of your computer or without your smartphone and look up Did you get the manual you wanted? And were you able to fix the machine much cheaper than buying a new one? How did you feel at the end of the day? Did you sleep well that night knowing you had accomplished something amazing?

This is my blog post about washing machines. There also it just called washers, but there are lots of different types of washers for instance rubber washers and steel washers and this washer and that washer, so I put down on the homepage washing machines to make it easy. Have you noticed that cool broken down picture of the washing machine above it? That was my idea. My webmaster probably wants to take credit for it for making it look good, but the original idea was mine and I want you to know it

Welcome to step right up manuals part-10

Welcome to step right up manuals part-10

I can’t believe it! Summer is more than half over! Yikes! You know what that means. It mean soon there will be fall colors, and after that oh no, not again!

I live in a very small apartment that is super hard to heat in the winter. Winter in Wisconsin is one of the worst things you can imagine. All know and it’s coming. And my apartment is really hard to heat. I bought a space heater and put it in and it worked for a while but it was Chinese so it broke down in a short time. Instead of doing the smart thing and taking it back to the store, I thought I would fix it myself. Sometimes in life we make bad decisions. Well it I ended up having to get a new heater and the store would not take this one back because I had taken it apart. It was one of those times where they did a close inspection and saw that something was not right because I had cut through a label strategically placed over a screw and they knew, haha, this guy took a part this heater and probably made it worse and at least voided the warranty, so if he thinks he can return it to us, he better think again.

Well if I had had a manual at that time I would have just taking it back to the store, because the manual would have made it look so complicated that it would not be worth fixing. Live and Learn. I didn’t have that manual anyway. I don’t have all the manuals there are in the universe, but I’m working on it. If you have a manual that you want to donate to me I would be glad to have it. You never know, I might not already have it, and there might be someone who needs it, and this site is all about having all these manuals at one place so people don’t have to search and search for them.

This is what I’m supposed to write about heaters. My webmaster is making me do this. I don’t get paid to do this. I might never get paid to do this. He thinks I have nothing else to do. People ask me, “Hey, do you want to go out and have a good time?” I tell them no I have to stay home and write blog posts for my webmaster. They give me a little sympathy and go out and have a good time. Oh well.

I noticed my webmaster was out having a good time while I was writing blog posts.

Have you ever thought about the number of microwave ovens there are out there? And the number of brands of microwave ovens there are out there? There are millions! And there are millions of microwave oven repair manuals also. How can you ever find the right one? Easy! Go to and there is a good chance that you will find the right one, and you won’t have to spend hours searching for the right one. I know. I searched and searched and there’s millions of manuals to sort through. So why have that headache?

One thing you have to remember about fixing microwave ovens is that they have a lot of voltage stored in them and you have to ground it before you can safely work on it. Don’t forget that! It’s important! I have a friend who was knocked across the room when he touched the wrong thing. And it’s easy to ground it. The instructions for grounding should be in every microwave oven repair manual. All it takes is a screwdriver and touch it to the right two places and the charge is discharged and you can safely work.

I think my webmaster will be happy with this post because I told some serious information in it. I wasn’t just joking around and just saying stuff that balances through my head. He doesn’t like that. He says he does but I know that he compliments me when he wants a raise. But he tells his wife that he’s going to have to edit every single one of my blog posts to make them sound better, even though he knows nobody is going to read them. Oh well, what to do?

There are some problems with living in Wisconsin. They are 1, ticks. There are ticks everywhere. Don’t touch the grass, don’t touch the trees, don’t touch the leaves, don’t touch anything, learn to levitate. Number 2 mosquitoes. Blah, blah, blah. Number 3 the governor. He is running for president. What a joke. I won’t get into that because I want to sell manuals, and some people actually stand by him. Maybe those are the people who don’t buy manuals and this will not affect my sales. Let us hope so.

A friend of mine, who’s a contractor, was renovating a house and he asked me to fix the range in the kitchen. It was an old range and, if it were me, I would have just replaced it, but part of the job was to make everything look old, just cleaned up, but still look old because it looks nice that way. So I had to fix this range and there was no manual for it because it was so old. Of course, I fixed it, but it wasn’t easy because it required new parts. But that’s an aside. I’m really here to talk about, because my webmaster says I have to even if I have other things to do. I could be taking my tablet to a job and using it to look up a repair manual and fixing something. That way I could make some money. The only way I can make money doing this is if you readers, buy a manual or two from me. And then I don’t make much money. Do you realize how much money it takes to build and maintain and operate a website? Since 2008, this site has been a risky venture to say the least. One of these days it might break even, and it would do that sooner if I sell some manuals. So if you hear of anyone who has a broken home appliance, turn them on to this site. It couldn’t hurt. And that is what I have to say about kitchen appliance repair manuals.

Refrigerators are super expensive to buy. Have you bought one lately? I bet that set you back a pretty penny. Why didn’t you just fix the old one? You didn’t have a manual to fix it, you say? I bet you regret that! Now there is no excuse not to fix a broken refrigerator, because I have manuals right here on this site! You might never have to buy a new refrigerator again. So sell all of your stock in refrigerator companies, because it’s going to go down. Nobody is going to buy refrigerators after they know about this website. They’re going to fix them all them selves, with the help of a repair manual. Tell all your friends not to fix their refrigerators! They’re too hard to move in and out of the kitchen anyway. My brother has a very small kitchen, and when he replaced his refrigerator they had to take out some of his cabinets so they could slide the refrigerator in and out. This heartache is entirely avoidable. Just buy a manual from me and see what happens.

My webmaster is threatening to quit unless I clean up my act. He wants serious blog posts, even though he knows no one is going to read them. To me it seems like a waste of time. I’m caught in the middle. Do I want to keep my trusty webmaster and submit to his demands or do I want to be free? Maybe I’ll take a survey and see which of my readers want me to submit and which of my readers want me to be free. Stay tuned for the survey. It’s going to happen soon and the world will be changed.

Dishwasher Service Manuals

Dishwasher Service Manuals

The home page has links brilliantly disguised as schematics of appliances. That was my own personal idea. That was one of the few things I did in building the site. When I discovered how difficult and technical it is to build a website and how long it would take for me to teach myself how to do it, I hired a guy. He was very creative and made a very good site but the technology has changed and the site got old and finally I had to get rid of it. After he built it, in Joomla, he admitted that if he had to do it again he would not use Joomla. And my recommendation to anybody building a site is forget about Joomla.

Moving right along to the subject of this post, this subject is in alphabetical order, dishwasher service manuals. They are all here folks. Get them while they last. Actually a dishwasher is quite easy to fix. And it can only be easier if you buy a service manual from me. Which reminds me my webmaster told me not to use the word service, but he never said why. Am i screwing up everything by saying service too much? I hope not. I wouldn’t want to do all of these posts all over again and have to make up words to use instead of service. At least they have electronic thesauruses these days. What is the plural of thesaurus anyway? Is it thesauri? I don’t know. Who cares anyway?

So if you have a broken dishwasher, and it can be one of many brands, then you can get a repair manual here. And why shouldn’t you? This is a good site and these are reasonable prices and you could save a lot of money! So wouldn’t it be smart to stock up on a ton of dishwasher repair manuals, just in case? If I can’t sell you a dishwasher repair manual then nobody can. Come on, don’t just think of yourself!
